This print was originally a footwear concept based on geode like stones. The NSW Apparel team got wind of it and wanted to connect. Working closely with the apparel and tech designers we came up with a plan to have multiple premium placed graphics and also an allover print.
I love to create a cohesive story across footwear and apparel without being "matchy matchy", or the same exact print. Scale, arrangement and color all come together to keep the story simple for the consumer without being over done.
Nike NSW Womens "muscles" print. This is another print that was meant for footwear but then asked to be included for apparel. Apparel printing often has different printing limitations and processes so I had to completely create a new pattern and a way for it to successfully print. I knew that I wanted this to be a placed print and not a repeat print. In order to get approval for that I had to come up with a way to trim the price of the printing. The solution was to use only 3 colors via a micro halftone gradient which simulates having many more colors. This is a great example of working closely with print developers to achieve something at first they thought they could not produce.
